Daan, 28 years old
La Roux

What was your first introduction to the Melkweg?
I think my first introduction to the Melkweg was in 2007. I went to see De La Soul with a friend.

Do you want to tell us your favourite Melkweg story?
That’s a tough one, I’ve seen a lot of concerts in the Melkweg. I remember that I had bought tickets for the post-punk band Savages but that I didn’t feel up for the show that night. I ended up going, of course, and it was one of the best shows I have ever seen. Especially when they closed off the show with Japanese noise rock band Bo Ningen.

What do you think concerts will look like in 50 years?
I don’t know. I just hope that the Melkweg doesn’t start offering hologram concerts.

What do you want people to know about you?
‘I can’t stand the rain.’

Which musician would you want to swap lives with for a day?
Any sane person would say Prince, so I’m going to say Prince.

Do you want to be famous? If so, what would you want to be known for?
Not necessarily. But… if I would be famous, I'd want to be known as a talk show host, or as a writer, or as the frontman of an obscure post-punk band.

If you could be the director of Melkweg for a day, what would you do?
I would organize an event to raise money for LGBTQ refugees, who according to the Dutch government, are “not gay enough” to be granted a residence permit. Or just organize my own in-door festival with a reunion of Talking Heads, my dreamy heroes Beach House and queer icon Perfume Genuis.

What do you think of your photograph?
Brilliant.
